A1 – Beginner (elementary)
Before the course, the learner has no or hardly any knowledge of the language.
During the course the learner learns how to interact in basic communicative situations, such as meeting people; introducing her/himself; speaking about one’s hobbies, everyday activities, shopping; ordering food; using time expressions; speaking about the location of objects and local geography; asking directions; talking about one’s health. After the course, the learner is able to interact in a simple way provided the other person speaks slowly and clearly. Additionally, the learner is able to write a short and simple text.
A2 – Beginner (continuation)
The learner has mastered communicative skills at level A1.
The course extends comprehensive skills necessary in short exchanges, in speaking about familiar routine matters during simple social interaction. The learner can form longer utterances, which consist of a number of sentences, and can write short messages concerning everyday matters, such as a short note, letter, email.
B1 – Intermediate
The learner has mastered communicative skills at level A2.
The learner can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure situations, etc; and can communicate about them without prior preparation. The learner prepares to understand the language of news media. He/she can produce longer connected text on topics of personal interest; can express his/her opinion, idea; can show a cause-effect relationship; knows how to write a longer connected text, e.g. a personal letter.
B2 – Upper-intermediate
The learner has mastered communicative skills at level B1.
The learner learns how to understand longer, more complex utterances provided the topic is familiar. He/she can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity, and can write detailed coherent texts giving advantages and disadvantages on a variety of subjects. The learner prepares to understand standard news media and films.
C1 – Advanced
The learner has mastered communicative skills at level B2.
The learner can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning. He/she can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes, and is able to interact with other people expressing his/her ideas fluently and spontaneously. The learner can produce clear, well-structured, detailed texts on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
C2 – Upper-advanced (proficiency)
The learner can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read.
The learner practises the ability to understand complex utterances (even if the other person speaks fast), and to recognize regional dialects of Polish language. He/she can express him/herself spontaneously, fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning, and is able to adjust written style according to the purpose of writing. The learner gets to know specialist, and literary texts.
